It was great to see so many people attend the GAIC protest, I hope the message finally gets through to to Premier Brumby that the GAIC tax is unfair and unsupported by anybody. Big thank you Matthew Guy Shadow Planning Minister for showing Leadership and assuring people that the greens and Libs will block this Legislation.

I want to thank the liberals for truly representing the interests of People impacted by this Home tax. Liberals you have my Vote at the next election..

It was great to hear Matthew Guy speak but what a perfect opportunity missed by Ted Baillieu to speak to people from the outer suburbs and show us what he is made of. Ted you need to get out there and mix with the people if you are going to win the next election.

Congratulations on such a well organized and positive rally.... we came from the Yarra Valley as we felt we had to support to your cause. One more stroke of Madden's pen and it will be this area also, but to see you all fighting so hard, and listening to the speakers was evidence of people power at its best. We were pleased to see our Parliamentary member make an appearance as she is well aware of this GAIC and what the ramifications are.
May you all have every success with this ridiculous tax. Where can we get some bumper stickers please?

I read the comments and the infomation with interest, I will declare first up I am a Liberal Candidate for the next state Election in Gembrook.

I would like to say it is great to see some positive comments on Matthew Guy, and also I know Ted Baillieu has attended some infomation sessions. The main theme for both Ted and Matthew is the Brumby Government needs to listen. A decision affecting Vitorian Homes and the families in them needs to have in depth community consultation.

I would like to thank and pass on a congradulations to Michael Hocking and his team for going in to bat, with the assistance of all in Taxed Out, for all Victorians. Keep it up and remember to fight for fairness.

Kind Regards

Brad Battin
Liberal Candidate for Gembrook

Hank  - What about me?   |124.176.136.xxx |2009-11-25 21:16:08
The Regional rail link is passing through my propert in Melbourne's West. I've been told that this will go ahead whether the UGB or GAIC goes through.

If the GAIC is blocked, then the UGB will be blocked as well. If that happens and the government acquires my land I will be paid absolute peanuts.

To me this is unfair so I want the GAIC/UGB to pass because the Regional Rail Link is coming whether I like it or not. However, I understand the position of other land owners too.

So my question is, what is Taxed Out and the Liberals going to do about me and large number of others that are in my position? Are we left to our own?
Myer  - rail-link   |60.230.152.xxx |2009-11-26 00:24:25
Taxed Out group has inspired me to stand up and fight for my rights. We too will have a freeway, and railway going through our property, we also have this tax. Stand up for yourself, form your own fighting group. The part of your property that has the rail link wont be zoned into the UGB, so there will be no monetry gain on the sale to the government.
Dennis  - UGB's a tax net   |60.228.101.xxx |2009-11-30 00:23:09
Hank if you're close to existing development there'll be development pressure on your land with or without the UGB expansion. I don't think Taxed out's said that the UGB expansion should or shouldn't go ahead - they just want a fair tax if it does. Plenty of development goes on outside the UGB - what about that new estate in Wallan Waters. It will go ahead in some areas regardless - the government's just trying to put a tax net around it. It's Madden that's said the UGB won't go ahead with out the GAIC. Pure bluff and bluster. What would his developer mates think of him if he pulled the pin on the UGB expansion?
Luka  - You just don't get it people   |124.176.136.xxx |2009-11-25 21:22:36
Regardless of your thoughts on Madden and Co. the end of the road is near. The UGB will be changed and the GAIC will be brought in regardless. The simple fact is too many people and no where to put them. Do you honestly think Matthew Guy is going to ruin his political career when house prices skyrocket due to supply and demand? I don't think so. This bill will be passed. I think some land owners really underestimate how much money thier properties will be worth. Do some homework people, oh and Mr Guy was also commenting on how all of you will be millionares soon. You can give me your land if your really like, i'd be happy to be in your shoes.

Bonnie   |60.230.152.xxx |2009-11-26 00:30:20
where's your land Luca because i know where mine is and how much it's worth, and the GAIC. I cant see one good thing about being placed into a growth area and having no chance of development for 20 years. And what about those around me with small acreage and huge tax. Who's going to buy them
Phil  - Are you serious??   |211.27.126.xxx |2009-11-26 20:59:50
Luca, i find your comments totally offensive! Our lives have been totally turned upside down. We built our dream home, raised our family here, worked very hard to clean our property, curbed our lifestyle - for what? To now be told that a road will go thru it, and that we have to pay for someone else to enjoy infrastructure that we don't even fully have. Can you even imagine what the last few months have been like for us? Would you really be that happy to be in our shoes? I wouldn't wish what we have been thru upon anyone.
Therese  - Yes we do "get it"   |124.176.136.xxx |2009-11-25 21:30:40
Luka, I can assure that we do get it, we have done our homework and we haven't underestimated how much our properties will be worth. I suggest you go away and become a bit more informed on the issue before you start lecturing us. I guessing you would rather be given a block of land across the fence from an existing suburb than one that won't be developed for 20 years. Wouldn't we all - because the same flat rate tax applies to both! Make the GAIC fair - that's all we're asking for.
Simon  - Luca open your eyes   |114.74.166.xxx |2009-11-26 10:36:35
Luca you're obviously a staunch laborite along with madden and brumby, you are not listening. If you have followed this campaign and had attended the rally you would know the uplift only comes when the land is finally to be developed. If your parents had owned land in the investigation area, had worked hard on it for years after having purchased the land when no one else wanted it, hoped it would be their super, years away from development.. then you would be fighting along side these average Vics. Dont believe the hype that we are instant millionaires.. there are some of us that will gain a windfall, we have never thought otherwise, but to those people with long term development potential the only people to afford to purchase their land are developers and no developer wants to sit on land for 10,20 years. Even developers have come out against the GAIC. So my advice to you mr. Ignorant is to read up on this issue before you make rash statements..check the Hansard transcripts, take a drive to Beveridge and try to imagine that beautiful farmland full of housing, listen to Federal Labor Mp Thomson then maybe you'll detract what you've stated, albeit with shame!
But then you are a typical Laborite!
Gerard  - My name is Luka, I live on the second floor!   |143.238.116.xxx |2009-11-27 21:02:57
When I think of Madden & Co. it is indeed that of a ‘DEAD END ROAD!!!’
I’ve done the homework and I’ve got the rate notices in front of me Luka. I was brought into the UGB in 2005 and my property has only had a marginal increase in value on every rate notice in the last 25 years up to and including the current notice which I received a month ago. I’m hanging out for the ten fold increase Madden said I will get. That’s about as likely as Madden’s IQ suddenly going up ten fold, which of course wouldn’t exceed a double digit if that ever were to happen. I guess ‘nothing exceeds like excess’, to a Labor Politician anyway. If I sell, Madden & Co. gets 5.5% Stamp Duty from the purchaser on top of the $160,000 GAIC. Luka; if there’s one thing worse than a Labor Politician; it’s a ‘Labor Voter’, remember that!!!
